Joseph Francis "Fran" Campion
This website is dedicated to the memory of Joseph Francis "Fran" Campion, and his time served in World War II between the years of 1943 and 1946. Fran grew up in Janesville, Wisconsin, and was drafted in 1943. He served his country in the Navy, and ultimately earned the rank of Pharmacy Mate, 2nd Class.
Here, on this website, you will find much of the memorabilia that he saved from this time period, along with a few of the stories that were passed down to his family. We welcome your input and your feedback, as well as any anecdotes that you may want to share from those that may have known Fran.
After the war, Fran lived a very full and happy life in Wisconsin. He married in April of 1948 and fathered seven children with Ruth Mary Jones, a local resident who graduated in 1944 from the high school he left to enlist. He remained very close to his family and always lived in Janesville. He remained a steadfast member of the local Catholic Church and made every attempt to follow the American Dream that the fighting in WWII had won.
